My name is Heather McGee Lackey. I handcraft one-of-a-kind leather goods from new and recycled materials. I also like to create cooperative projects with local artists. My work tends to be aesthetically alternative: rockabilly, punk, Art Deco, retro car culture, and whatever else strikes my Fancy.
I work in a combination of traditional and eco-friendly dyes and finishes. I also use various other materials, such as recycled bandanas, laminates, photographs, beads, crystal rivets, purchased patches, and whatever else shiny catches my eye.
I work for a wildlife and habitat conservation NGO, drive a 1963 Studebaker Lark VIII Cruiser conversion, and compulsively watch movies. I despise plastic and love libraries, recycling, recycled art, 1950-60s American stock cars, drag racing, Art Deco and Deco Revival furnishings, body art, impeccable manners (which I do not have), wearing liquid eyeliner, and making lists — and lists of lists. I live in Anchorage, Alaska, with my husband, John, owner of Danger Industries.
